Rules and strategy of Baccarat
Baccarat is also known as Punto Banco. It is played on a table that is practically same size than is a table for Craps.
There are three dealers in the Baccarat table and the game can be played by two to fourteen players.
The goal in Baccarat is to bet on a hand that presumably holds the greatest value after the hand is played.
Baccarat is not actually played against other players at the table, but against the dealer. It is still very social game, particularly when there are as much as 14 players which all try to beat the dealer.
Players who do not like too complicated casino games will sure like baccarat. The game includes only three times of betting, of which the player has to take care of himself. The game contains banker and player which are also known as Banco and Punto. In addition to them the player can bet on the possibility of a draw.
In the regular casinos dealing is handled by paid dealer or by all the players in turn. In the internet casinos dealing is handled by a robot, which makes the playing much quicker.
In the beginning of the game the players have a possibility to bet on either Banco or Punto or on a draw. In general, dealer bets always on Banco. If the players deal themselves, the turn changes after the bank looses. The player can also leave the option of dealing aside. In this case, the turn changes directly for the next player.
If the player bets on the Banker, and the Banker wins, the player gets 95% payout of the bet, as he has to pay 5% of commission to the casino. By betting on the Player, the bet is returned doubled when the player wins. When betting on a draw the bet is returned multiplied with eight. By betting wrong, player looses the bet.
The values of the cards differ in Baccarat compared to other games. Court cards and a ten have no value at all, or the value is zero. Ace has the value of one. Value of other cards is as much as the number on the card. If the sum of the cards increases to double digits, only the latter digit is counted. For instance, 18 would be given a value of eight.
The best expected value is with the Banker-draw, as there the house benefit is only about a percent.
